Come and help me create a site for teachers in international schools to find out about teaching resources for social-interpersonal and communication skills for students with ASD.

Wiki organization

I've organized the wiki by the 2 major areas that challenge students with ASD: Social-interpersonal skills and Communication skills. Under those major headings, there are 3 sub-headings that relate to age groups: Early years, Elementary and Junior/Senior High. I thought this would be a good way to cut down on searching time for busy educators: you can just access the pages of the skill area you are interested in and for a particular age group. Each page is set up so you can see at a glance the name of the resource, a brief description, the website address, and a review. Click on review and you will go to a separate page where a colleague has provided information on the actual use of the resource. This can be a very valuable addition to our collective professional knowledge - to get the goods on the resource directly from the horse's mouth (so to speak!) rather than having to rely on the publisher's blurb.

I've also added a page for professional books. This is where you can identify books that have been useful in helping you understand the challenges of ASD and of working with students and/or their parents.

Currently, the last major heading is Wish List. This is a page where you can identify the kind of resources/materials you wish were available. Maybe another colleague will get busy and fill the gap!

Clearly, this wiki will only be useful if we take the time to add contributions. I'll start the ball rolling and invite a bunch of special educators I know in international schools to keep it going. Pass the news along and rope in as many people as you can.
